What to Wear!

The Ladies

The gals are wearing this dress from David's Bridal.  I knew I wanted them to wear cocktail length dresses, and so my sister tried on all the short bridesmaid dresses at David's, and this is the one that looked best on her.  I feel like this dress works well for many different body types, which is great!
I love that this dress has an interesting neckline and pockets.  Even though every bride says it (and almost never is it true), I really feel like my girls could wear this dress again.  The material is a cotton sateen, so it isn't shiny.  This really is just a great summer party dress, which is exactly the vibe I am going for.  They will wear silver shoes of their choice.

The Gents

The guys are wearing a Joseph & Feiss Two-Button Notch Lapel tuxedo, with Tuscany vest and tie from Men's Wearhouse.  We chose this tux because it was the least expensive 2-button, and I hope it will be universally flattering.  The groom is wearing a platinum vest, the groomsmen and ring bearer are wearing watermelon vests (and BOY are they excited about it!), and the dads are wearing black vests.

I also got my dress from David's Bridal.  It is style #V9743.  My mom and sister actually picked this dress out for me.  I wanted a simple dress with not a lot of ornate beading because I was going for a laid-back summery feel, and I knew I wanted my girls in cocktail length dresses.  But all the dresses we kept finding to try on were heavily beaded and just plain HEAVY too.

My mom and sister saw this on another bride at the store, and my sister said, "Oh, that would look great on you," and so they found it, and ta-da!  Dress shopping done!  I like that this dress does have a little beading, and the waist echoes the bridemaids' dresses.  I like that the color is a very, very light ivory that looks nice with white, because the guys are wearing white shirts, and all our linens are white.  Also the back of the dress is really pretty.  I am borrowing my sister's crinoline that she wore for her wedding and wearing silver shoes I got from Zappos.com, Geox D Roxy 04.  They are super comfy, and have a wedge heel, which I love, so I won't sink my heels in the grass walking down the aisle.

Dress Label

My sister gave me an embroidered wedding gown label with my maiden name monogram and wedding date at my bridal shower.  She ordered it from an Etsy seller (MondeDesign).  My mom is going to stitch it inside my dress as my "something blue."  I love it, and was so touched to receive it.

Accessories!

I am having a lot of fun finding accessories to wear to the wedding.  I have found a lot of things on Etsy, which is a great resource for many, many things.  A lot of sellers will work with you to make custom pieces, too!  If you have not experienced Etsy yet, you need to!  Although, be prepared to want to buy A LOT.

I had my bridesmaids' earrings custom made on Etsy, so I got exactly what I wanted (from SpiffingJewelry).
My necklace is made of a hundred Swarovski pearls that are held together with wire for a really unique look.  I also bought a silk flower for my hair with Swarovski pearls and crystal sewn in the middle of it (both from VirginiaGeigerJewels).  I found earrings for myself in kgarnerdesigns' shop - Swarovski pearls paired with crystals.  I purchased a simple elbow-length single tier raw edge veil in diamond white from MarisolAparicio's shop.

Beauty

My bridesmaids and I are getting our hair and makeup done on-site in our hotel suite the day of the wedding.  Alison Feamster is our makeup artist and Shannon Goode is our hair stylist.

I had my makeup trial with Alison, and I love it!  I chose airbrush makeup, and it feels so light!  I wanted a classic look with neutral colors - nothing too crazy.  On my wedding day, I want to look like myself.

I recently had my hair trial with Shannon Goode, and I love how it  turned out.  I brought some pictures with me, and Shannon did a great job of working on my hair.  She was very nice, and I am so excited to have her do my bridal party and my hair in a few months.

The Moms

My mom's dress
My mom and my fiance's mom and stepmom have all enjoyed finding dresses for the wedding.  They appreciated that they could wear shorter dresses, and therefore hopefully get to wear them for more events than just our wedding.
My mom's dress is from Nordstrom, his mom's dress is from Neiman Marcus, and his stepmom's dress is from J. Crew.

**His stepmom's dress looks very light colored in the picture from the website, but it is more a light purplish, gray color in real life.  When I saw it online I was really worried it would be too close to my dress, but after seeing it in person, I think it will be fine.  My mom's dress is much more purple than it looks in pics, so it will NOT be the same color as the bridesmaid dresses.**
